Why gearbox tuning matters
On many modern vehicles, the gearbox control unit has its own torque limits, shift maps and protection strategies. If the engine is tuned but the gearbox calibration is left untouched, the result can feel held back or inconsistent.
DSG and TCU tuning
Gearbox tuning can improve shift speed, launch behaviour, shift points, torque limiters and manual mode response on supported gearboxes. The goal is not to make shifts aggressive; it is to make the gearbox behave correctly for the torque the engine is producing.
When software is not the answer
Software cannot fix a slipping clutch pack, worn mechatronics unit, poor servicing history or mechanical fault. If the gearbox is already showing symptoms, diagnostics should come first.
