Explain the journey and load
A car used for commuting, a delivery van and a towing vehicle can present different shift preferences and operating conditions. Describe the regular use, transmission mode and any load-related behaviour you want the workshop to investigate.
This information defines the enquiry; it does not establish that more torque or different shifts are appropriate for every vehicle. The exact gearbox and its condition need to be considered first.
Send the engine and gearbox history together
Include the registration, engine, transmission, current ECU tune and hardware changes. Provide the gearbox service history and details of recent repairs if available. Support depends on the specific control unit and software, not simply the vehicle's make.

Separate a fault from a preference
Describe shudder, slipping, warning messages or harsh changes accurately. Note whether the behaviour is present when cold, when warm or with a particular load. Software is not a repair for worn clutches or other mechanical problems.
Where a supported transmission is healthy, calibration may address shift scheduling and coordination with the engine. The workshop confirms what is suitable for the specific setup and the proposed work.
